Scorpion vs PlumberEngine for plumbing companies

Scorpion or PlumberEngine: compare the terms, not the pitch.

Both build websites for plumbing companies. The differences that matter after you sign are who owns the site, how long you’re committed and what it costs. Here’s each one, with Scorpion’s answers quoted from its own FAQ.
Who owns the website
PlumberEngine: You, from day one. Your domain stays registered to you.
Scorpion: You own the website after the contract term is complete; not the underlying system it runs on. (source: scorpion.co)
If you leave
PlumberEngine: The code is handed over through GitHub and the hosting through Vercel, so the site keeps running without us.
Scorpion: You'll need another vendor to rebuild the website on a content management system of your choosing. (source: scorpion.co)
Contract
PlumberEngine: None. Month to month on every plan.
Scorpion: Typically 12 months for marketing technology and SEO; digital advertising typically month to month. (source: scorpion.co)
Published price
PlumberEngine: $99/mo (Growth) or $199/mo (Concierge). Ads management $299/mo + your budget.
Scorpion: Not published; the investment depends on your business goals. (source: scorpion.co)
Ad channels managed
PlumberEngine: Google Ads (add-on).
Scorpion: Google Ads, Local Services Ads, Meta and more. (source: scorpion.co)
BBB
PlumberEngine: Too new to be rated.
Scorpion: BBB Accredited, A+ rating. (source: bbb.org)

Scorpion’s FAQ blocks automated checks, so its quotes come from the Internet Archive’s copy captured in April 2026. Confirm current terms with Scorpion before you decide.

Who owns your website: the question to ask first

With most agencies, the website is the thing you can lose. Scorpion answers the ownership question directly in its FAQ, and it’s worth reading in full:

“Yes, you own your website after the length of your contract with Scorpion is complete. While you won’t own the underlying system,”
Scorpion FAQ, scorpion.co (checked Oct 3, 2026 via the Internet Archive copy)
“You’ll need to work with another vendor to rebuild your website on a content management system of your choosing, such as WordPress, Drupal, or something else you prefer.”
Scorpion FAQ, scorpion.co (checked Oct 3, 2026 via the Internet Archive copy)

In plain terms: you get your content and files, but not a running website, so leaving means paying someone to rebuild. With PlumberEngine, leaving means taking the working site with you: the code through GitHub, the hosting through Vercel, the domain you already own.

Contract length

“Yes, Scorpion typically requires a 12-month contract for our marketing technology and certain marketing services like search engine optimization (SEO).”
Scorpion FAQ, scorpion.co (checked Oct 3, 2026 via the Internet Archive copy)

A 12-month term isn’t unusual for an agency, and it isn’t a scandal. It does mean the first year is a commitment either way. PlumberEngine plans are month to month from the start; if the site isn’t earning its keep, cancel from your billing page.

Price

“The investment you decide to make with Scorpion depends on your business goals.”
Scorpion FAQ, scorpion.co (checked Oct 3, 2026 via the Internet Archive copy)

Scorpion prices each client on a call. Ours is on the pricing page: $99 a month for Growth, $199 for Concierge, no setup fee. Google Ads management is $299 a month plus a budget you pay Google directly.

Where Scorpion still wins

  • More ad channels. Scorpion runs Local Services Ads and Meta campaigns as well as Google Ads; we manage Google Ads only.
  • A track record. Scorpion is an established agency with an A+ BBB rating. PlumberEngine is new to plumbing in 2026, and we don’t have plumbing clients to point you to yet.
  • A big team. If you want an agency with account managers and a full creative department, that’s what Scorpion is.
If those matter more to you than ownership, price and flexibility, Scorpion may be the better fit, and that’s fine. Just read the ownership and contract terms before you sign.

Switching from Scorpion to PlumberEngine

  1. Check your contract’s end date and notice terms, so you don’t pay for months you won’t use.
  2. Confirm who controls your domain name and your Google Business Profile, and make sure both are in your name.
  3. Book a consultation. We copy your current pages before the switch, at the same addresses, so what Google knows keeps working.
  4. Review the new site privately, then point your domain at it on the day your Scorpion term ends.

Questions

Scorpion questions

Do you own your website with Scorpion?

According to Scorpion's own FAQ, you own your website after the length of your contract is complete, but not the underlying system it runs on, and on leaving you'll need another vendor to rebuild the site on a content management system of your choosing. With PlumberEngine the site is yours from the first day, and if you leave the code is handed over through GitHub and the hosting through Vercel.

How long is a Scorpion contract?

Scorpion's FAQ says it typically requires a 12-month contract for its marketing technology and certain services like SEO, while digital advertising such as Google Ads, LSAs and Meta is typically month to month. PlumberEngine has no contract on any plan.

How much does Scorpion cost for plumbers?

Scorpion doesn't publish a price; its FAQ says the investment depends on your business goals. PlumberEngine is $99 a month, or $199 with a human team, and Google Ads management is $299 a month plus your ad budget.

What are good alternatives to Scorpion for a plumbing company?

It depends on what you want from the relationship. If you want a large full-service agency running ads across Google, Local Services Ads and Meta, Scorpion and similar agencies do that. If you want a site you own outright, look for companies that put their ownership terms in writing: PlumberEngine, Footbridge Media and Blue Corona all do, and PlumberEngine and Footbridge also publish a price with no contract.
