What plumbing clicks cost on Google Ads

Plumbing is one of the priciest trades to advertise on Google, and emergency searches cost the most. These are Google Ads’ average cost-per-click figures for US searches, from our keyword data pulled October 3, 2026:

SearchAvg. cost per clickUS searches / month
24 hour plumber near me$80.5249,500
emergency plumber near me$76.50110,000
same day plumber$68.393,600
water heater repair$48.9574,000
drain cleaning near me$41.1790,500
plumber near me$39.45823,000
sewer line repair$28.6018,100
toilet repair$24.4212,100

Across whole campaigns the numbers look gentler, because most clicks aren’t emergencies: LocaliQ’s 2025 benchmark of home-services campaigns found a median plumbing cost per click of $10.49, a median cost per lead of $129.02 and a 7.63% conversion rate (source: localiq.com).

What a plumbing PPC budget actually buys

Run the math before you run ads. At the median figures above:

  • $300 a month (our minimum) is about 28 clicks at $10.49, or 2 leads at $129. On emergency terms at $76 a click, it’s about 4 clicks.
  • $1,000 a month is about 95 clicks at the median, or roughly 8 leads at $129 each.
  • A lead is not a job. Divide by your close rate on phone inquiries to get cost per booked job, then compare it with what that job is worth.
For comparison, Footbridge Media publishes a $775 monthly minimum ad budget for the campaigns it manages (source: footbridgemedia.com). Our $300 minimum is lower, which is useful for testing, not proof that $300 is enough for your market.

What our Google Ads management for plumbers includes

  • The campaign build: search campaigns organized by service (emergency, water heaters, drains, sewer), so each ad matches the search.
  • Keywords: the searches worth paying for in your towns, and the ones to block (jobs, DIY, “how to” searches and supply-house shoppers).
  • Landing pages: every ad goes to the matching service page on your PlumberEngine site, with your number first.
  • Ongoing tuning: bids, keywords and ads adjusted as the data comes in.

Two rules we hold to: ads only run in the towns you actually serve, and “24/7” ads only run if someone really answers at 2 a.m. Paying $80 for a click that reaches voicemail is the most expensive mistake in plumbing PPC.

Google Ads vs Local Services Ads for plumbers

Local Services Ads are the ads with the Google Verified badge that often sit above everything on emergency searches. You pay per lead instead of per click, and Google screens the business first: for plumbers that means background checks and license and insurance verification. The old “Google Guaranteed” money-back guarantee has been discontinued (source: support.google.com).

We manage regular Google Ads. Local Services Ads are set up in your own Google account; we’ll make sure the categories and service areas you choose there match your website and your Google Business Profile.

What about Facebook ads for plumbers?

People don’t open Facebook when a pipe bursts, so Facebook ads rarely win emergency work. They can keep your name in front of neighbors for planned jobs like water heater replacement or repiping. We don’t manage Facebook ads; our social add-on ($99/mo) posts for you, which is a different thing.

When Google Ads aren't worth it for a plumber

  • When you can’t answer the phone during the hours the ads run.
  • When your site has no page for the service you’re advertising. Fix the site first; it’s cheaper.
  • When your schedule is already full. Ads buy demand you can’t serve.
  • When your Google Business Profile is incomplete or suspended. The free map pack beats a paid click; see why plumbing businesses disappear from Google.

Questions

Google Ads questions

Are Google Ads worth it for plumbers?

They can be, for the right searches. Ads put you above the map on searches you don't rank for yet, including emergency searches at night. But plumbing clicks are among the most expensive in local search (about $76–$80 a click for 'emergency plumber near me' and '24 hour plumber near me' in October 2026), so they're worth it when you know what a booked job is worth, answer the phone every time the ad runs, and send clicks to a page for that exact service.

How much does Google Ads management for plumbers cost?

PlumberEngine charges a $299 monthly management fee, and the minimum ad budget is $300 a month, which you pay to Google directly. So the floor is $599 a month. Our fee doesn't rise with your budget.

Is $300 a month enough?

For emergency terms, no: at $76–$80 a click it buys only a handful of clicks. It can be enough to test cheaper, job-specific searches in a small service area, like toilet repair or sewer line repair. On the consultation we'll show you what your budget buys in your towns before you spend anything.

What's the difference between Google Ads and Local Services Ads?

Google Ads (search ads) charge per click and you choose the keywords, the ad text and the page they land on. Local Services Ads charge per lead, show a Google Verified badge after Google's background and license checks, and you don't control the wording. Many plumbers run both. We manage Google Ads; Local Services Ads are set up in your own Google account.

Do I need a contract for Google Ads management?

No. It's month to month like every PlumberEngine plan. Stop any month.
